Upbeat Bears in with a shout for a play-offs place

REDCAR welcome Berwick to the ECCO Arena tonight after roaring right back into the race for a play off place with a Leon Flint-inspired first victory at Oxford.

Flint, guesting for the still ill Erik Riss, was unbeaten by an opponent while Jason Edwards and Danny King also weighed in with double figures as the visitors, having been overwhelmed by Glasgow the previous Friday, performed likewise at a Cowley circuit that hasn't proved a happy hunting ground in the past.

It was Redcar’s first win at the track and one that rarely seemed in doubt with the Bears firing decisively on all cylinders - a situation envisaged by manager Gavin Parr when he put the side together last winter.

“Everybody put in a good shift and that just shows what we could have done had Erik (Riss) been fit all season!” said a buoyant Parr before commencing the arduous five-hour overnight return journey to his home in Newcastle.
