Three Peaks challenge done - in Nick of time!
April 19, 2025
|The Gazette
A FITNESS manager at Middlesbrough's Neptune Centre was recently part of a team who conquered the National Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Breast Cancer Now, raising more than £5,000 for the charity.
-
Nicky Francis, 48, joined an East Region team of colleagues and partner suppliers from award-winning operator Everyone Active, which manages leisure centres for Middlesbrough Council, in the challenge attempt.
The iconic National Three Peaks route covers the three highest peaks of Scotland, England and Wales, involving more than 10,000ft of ascent, and travelling between them within 24 hours.
Starting off at the foot of Ben Nevis at dawn on Friday, April 4, the team were met with limited ice and snow on their ascent, but a sub-zero wind-chill factor.
This was no problem to Nicky, who took part in the infamous Fan Dance Winter Race in the Brecon Beacons in freezing temperatures as part of her training.
