Ten deaths at school

AT least nine people have been killed and at least 28 others were injured in a shooting at a school in the Austrian city of Graz.

The suspected perpetrator also died at the school, the city’s mayor said yesterday.

Special forces were among those sent to the BORG Dreierschutzen-gasse high school, just under a mile from Graz’s historic centre, after a call at 10am local time (9am BST) yesterday.

At 11.30am, police declared on the social network platform X that the school had been evacuated and everyone had been taken to a safe meeting point.

Authorities in the city have said the assailant was a 21-year-old Austrian man who had two weapons, which he appeared to have owned legally.
