Strongman is chasing his own American dream

DESPITE battling heart failure, Teesside strongman Andrew Reid is heading out to America to take part in an international competition.

The mental health nurse has his eyes on a world title and is travelling to Arlington, Texas, for the Official Strongman Games in the hope of clinching it.
Andrew said as a child he used to watch the World's Strongest Man with his dad every Christmas and became hooked on it. The 40-year-old said: "I started going to the gym in my 20s and was getting comments on how strong I was."
From there the Marton dad-of-one started becoming involved in the sport and now his 11-year-old daughter, Erin, loves to watch the strongman events with him, just as he did with his dad.
