Strelec agent calls out scouts’ lack of vision
October 11, 2025
|The Gazette
DAVID Strelec’s agent has had an explosive rant on social media about scouts in football - calling many blind for not spotting the potential of Middlesbrough’s new striker.
In what reads in a positive light for Boro’s recruitment team, who have long since tracked the Slovakian striker before landing him this summer, Michal Cierny shared some strong opinions.
Boro are understood to have paid Slovan Bratislava around £6.5 million for Strelec’s services - but Cierny believes his true value should be far higher.
While Strelec is yet to fully get going on Teesside, there have been flashes of his quality as the 24-year-old settles into his new surroundings. And as we reported yesterday, the striker insisted he wasn’t looking beyond succeeding at Boro right now, as it was suggested it could be an ideal step to position himself for big move in the future.
Cierny believes his client’s potential should have seen some of Europe’s top clubs taking notice.
Strelec revealed himself this week that his only other serious option this summer was Mexican side Monterrey.
