NEXT SEASON'S BADGE IS UNVEILED, WITH A NOD TO 1986

Designer Andrew Patterson and, right, the new club crest. Below, the current badge

An 18-month process to date, Boro first notified supporters of its thoughts to create a new club crest in March 2024.

The idea was to launch it at the start of next season, which coincides with the club's 150-year anniversary. The new badge is a permanent change, with a special gold version used next season around anniversary celebrations.

The new badge, which, as requested by fans, is a round, red and white design, with the lion prominent, has been unveiled by Boro after a lengthy design process.

In the many months since the initial announcement of intentions, Boro used leading research company YouGov and held numerous workshops with supporters to ensure they had supporter opinions on, first of all if a new badge was wanted, and secondly, what fans wanted it to look like, with that feedback at the heart of the design.

Taking inspiration from the popular 1986 badge which was replaced by the current crest in 2007, the new badge features a number of elements which the club and designer Andrew Patterson feel make it unique to the club, and also make it appropriate for the digital age.
