Mayor talks of future Teesside arena, and of potential locations
October 03, 2025
|The Gazette
THE Tees Valley mayor has made suggestions of where a future arena could be located in the region.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen
(TOM BANKS)
Conservative Ben Houchen spoke of potential at both Teesside Park and Middlehaven as locations, following the lights going out on a £70m proposal for a 5,000 seater venue in Redcar.
In September, it was reported that ambitious plans for anew arena on the site of the former Redcar Bowl in Coatam had ended in failure.
Redcar & Cleveland Council had previously granted Coatham Arena Limited, formed by a group of local businessmen, a six-month extension to take up a 125-year long lease on the land.
But it recently emerged that the option expired in September with the council not offering a further extension.
