Fantastic start but more to come, says Edwards
September 06, 2025
|The Gazette
IN an exciting warning when reflecting on Middlesbrough’s start to the season, Rob Edwards says he expects his side will get better in all departments.
Boro have had an excellent start to the season - their best since Bryan Robson led the club to promotion in his first season in charge in 1994-95. They've won four league games from four and conceded just the one goal in that time - with the only blemish their disappointing cup exit at the hands of Doncaster Rovers.
But Boro sit top of the Championship during the first international break, and have added three new players at the end of the transfer window since their most recent victory against Sheffield United. With that win taking Boro into the break, it was an ideal opportunity to pause and reflect.
On his side’s start to the season, the new head coach said: “Of course we're delighted. It's hard to win games of football and there is nothing like that feeling when the final whistle blows.
“It’s a great feeling because there is a lot of hard work during the week that goes into that. The players have always put a right shift in to achieve it, and it’s an amazing feeling.
