BELIEVES IT WILL REFLECT HIS VISION FOR THE COUNCIL'S FUTURE

- By STUART ARNOLD Local democracy reporter

NEW Redcar and Cleveland Council boss Brian Archer is to revert back to the title of chief executive six years after it was scrapped by the local authority.

The title was last used by Amanda Skelton until her retirement in 2019 with her successor, John Sampson, who will retire shortly, instead becoming managing director. Mr Archer, who like Mr Sampson is also 'head of paid service' being the most senior officer at the council, said his duties would remain unchanged from that of his predecessor.

He said: "I want to continue building on John's good work, and I, along with the political leadership, believe a change of title to chief executive will best reflect my vision for the future direction of the council."
