Brave dad ticking off bucket list after MND diagnosis
August 21, 2025
|The Gazette
A COURAGEOUS dad is hoping to have as much fun as possible with his family while he can after being given the devastating news he has Motor Neurone Disease.
Popular Tesco store manager Spencer McNeill has sorted his finances and organised his funeral.
The dad-of-three now wants to concentrate on his bucket list while he has enough mobility, visiting places he wants to see including New York, Florida, Egypt and possibly Japan.
The Acklam 43-year-old, who graduated as a doctor of business administration from Teesside University earlier this year, was also part of a huge charity night, along with family, friends and colleagues, to raise money for the Middlesbrough MND Care Centre at the James Cook University Hospital in Middlesbrough.
Spencer, who wed his wife, Jana, in Thailand last year, is the manager of the Roman Road Tesco in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough. He said the only problem he had was issues with his right hand and, after six months of tests, he got the heartbreaking diagnosis.
