COUPLE TRAGICALLY LOSE TWO ‘PERFECT’ BABIES IN 18 MONTHS

- By JOHN ROGAN

“THEY only ever knew love”.

That's how Matty Hynes and Steph Ferry remember their two “perfect, smiling, sleeping babies’, who the Teesside couple tragically lost within just 18 months of each other.

Little Archie and Frankie both developed hydrops fetalis while Steph was pregnant. It’s a condition with an extremely low survival rate. Frankie also had a heart condition.

Former GB distance runner Matty has paid tribute to both Archie and Frankie, who the couple were able to spend a couple of hours with before saying goodbye.

“They were only with us for a such a short time, but in that time, they only ever knew of love and happiness,” said Matty. “There are so many awful things going on in the world, but none of it ever affected them. All they ever knew was love from their mum and dad.

“They were our angels. I'm not really religious but I like to think that one day, we'll be with them again and give them all the extra love they would have had with us on Earth”

The family’s tribute follows Baby Loss Awareness Week (October 9 - 15). Around one in five pregnancies end in miscarriage, while on average, 14 babies die either before, during or after birth each day in the UK.
