JAMIE Swales feels that Middlesbrough's National Development League defeat at Leicester was not as emphatic as the score suggests on an afternoon of contrasting fortunes for the Pijper brothers.
Elder sibling Ace, 18, continued his blistering recent form while Stene, 16, suffered a nasty wrist injury which could keep him out of Saturday's final home match of the campaign against Belle Vue Colts (6pm).
Ace managed a memorable 15 points - top scoring in the meeting - less than 48 hours after posting a best Championship haul of 13+1 for Redcar at the ECCO Arena.
Like at Belle Vue two weeks earlier, the Tigers' number one took a while to get to grips with the East Midlands circuit before beating each of the Lion Cubs' best riders Ben Trigger and Cooper Rushen in convincing style in heats 13 and 15.
