Why did the U.S. take down Maduro?

Taking Maduro at a point when Russia's Vladimir Putin is busy fighting Ukraine, and while China's Xi Jinping is facing major internal political intramurals, is the best time to strike while the iron is hot.Nicolas Maduro, who rose from being a truck driver in Caracas to become Venezuela's most controversial leftist president, was taken by American special forces on January 3, and forcibly brought to the U.S. on alleged charges of narco-terrorism, drug trafficking, gun running, and other transcontinental crimes. Was that act legal? Was it not an external aggression against a sovereign state? Was America compliant with international law when its forces forcibly entered the territory of an independent state?
