The year is about to end.

- Atty. Josephus B. Jimenez

What can we tell our children and grandchildren about 2025? It’s the year when the whole nation was shaken not just by natural calamities but also by huge political and social crises. Cebu will remember this year as the time when Governor Gwen Garcia was defeated by a virtual unknown, Pam Baricuatro. It was also the year when former president Rodrigo Duterte was delivered to The Hague by his own government. The Year of the Snake was quite treacherous. We look forward to 2026, the Year of the Horse, to be much better. 2025 was turbulent politically in Midterm Elections in May this year followed by a series of natural disasters and social turbulence connected with the flood-control fiasco. There was an escalation of conflict between President BBM and Vice President Sara. There was an unexpected change of horses midstream. Senate President Chiz Escudero lost his leadership of the Upper Chamber to Tito Sotto. House Speaker Martin Romualdez was led to give up his seat and Isabela's Bojie Dy took over.
