AFTER TOTAL SYSTEM BLACKOUT
-
The Visayan Electric Company has reported successfully energizing all its substations following Typhoon Tino, except for one located in Cotcot, Liloan, which remains offline due to flooding.
In its Power Restoration Update as of 5 P.M. yesterday, the utility company clarified that while substations are back online, only portions of their respective service areas currently have power.
“Energization of customers remains a challenge due to heavy rains, landslides, flooding, fallen trees, and damaged lines and poles—which are affecting individual connections,” Visayan Electric said.
Field crews continue to work under difficult weather and terrain conditions to reconnect affected areas. The company assured that regular updates will be posted as restoration progresses.
“We understand this is difficult and appreciate your patience. Power will be restored as soon as it is safe to do so,” they said.
Following the total shutdown, Visayan Electric earlier assured customers that restoration will commence once systems are checked and roads are cleared, allowing crews to safely reach affected areas.
