TQ emerges as key hiring benchmark

As generative AI (Artificial Intelligence) redefines the contours of business and technology, employers are reassessing the fundamentals of talent acquisition—placing Technology Quotient (TQ) at the core of hiring strategies, often ahead of traditional qualifications.

That was the central message from Ambe Tierro, Country Managing Director of Accenture Philippines and board member of the IT and Business Process Association of the Philippines (IBPAP), during her keynote address at the “G Summit 2025,” hosted by Globe Business in Cebu.

“Technology is the common thread across all major disruptions—from video streaming to ride-hailing and e-commerce,” Tierro said. “Today, there are only two types of people: those driving disruption, and those being disrupted.”

TQ—the capacity to understand, adapt to, and harness technology—is rapidly becoming as critical as IQ or EQ in the digital economy.
