Shimura lays down measures filed, approved in Congress

Cebu Fourth District Representative Sun Shimura marked his first 100 days in office with a focus on disaster response, education, livelihood, and community welfare highlighting his promise to serve with “urgency, compassion, and consistency.”
-
Shimura, who took his oath earlier this year as the district’s new representative, said his first months in office were both challenging and fulfilling, especially after northern Cebu was struck by a magnitude 6.9 earthquake barely three months into his term.
“Public service is not just about policies, but about presence and being there when our people need us the most,” Shimura said in his Facebook post.
Following the earthquake that left several homes and communities in distress, Shimura immediately mobilized relief operations across Bogo City, San Remigio, Medellin, Daanbantayan, Tabogon, and Tabuelan.
Through partnerships with donors, local officials, and private organizations, his office distributed food packs, hygiene kits, and essentials to at least 8,210 affected families in Medellin, with more aid extended to other towns as data continued to come in.
