Ruiz calls for MCWD project inventory

Cebu City mayoralty candidate and former Bureau of Customs chief Yogi Ruiz is calling for a full inventory of projects implemented by the Metropolitan Cebu Water District (MCWD), as he proposes solutions to address the city’s ongoing water crisis, particularly in upland barangays.

In an interview with The Freeman, Ruiz said that there should be an inventory of existing MCWD projects and what still needs to be implemented to address the water crisis of the city.

“Let us do an inventory unsa nay mga present projects that have been implemented, unsa pay atong mga projects nga e-implimentar,” Ruiz said.

He further questioned the lack of water supply in mountain barangays, which he said would be among his top priorities.

“Nganong kuwang man og tubig atong mga kabaranggayan? Kay wala man makaabot ang atong MCWD didto,” lamented Ruiz, adding that he has done some research on the problem.

“It will be economically unviable nga paabton pa natong mga tubo sa pinakatumoytumoy nga mountain barangays,” he explained.

So as a solution, he proposes additional water sources and a reservoir which he said would also add income to the barangay and jobs for the locals.
