PB OKs speed limit ordinance for Bantayan and Camotes islands

The Cebu Provincial Board has approved an ordinance regulating speed limits for all vehicles traveling through Bantayan, Santa Fe, and Madridejos in Bantayan Island, as well as Tudela, Poro, Pilar, and San Francisco in Camotes Island.

Titled the Speed Limit Ordinance of the Tourist Islands of Bantayan and Camotes, the measure was sponsored by Board Member Glenn Anthony Soco. It sets a general speed limit of 30 kilometers per hour (kph) for all motor vehicles on provincial roads.

Under the ordinance, cars and motorcycles may travel up to 60 kph on national or open roads. On provincial roads or through streets, the speed limit is capped at 50 kph, while crowded municipal or barangay roads are restricted to 20 kph.

For buses, trucks, and tricycles, the limits are lower: 50 kph on national roads, 40 kph on provincial roads including intersections, and 20 kph on crowded areas.
