The University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers and the Sacred Heart School-Ateneo de Cebu (SHS-AdC) Magis Eagles basketball teams are both coming off a historic season in the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation, Inc. (CESAFI).
The Lancers completed a rare four-peat and grabbed their seventh crown in nine straight finals appearances under the guidance of coach Gary Cortes since 2015.
It's a monumental feat that was first achieved by coach Elmer “Boy” Cabahug, who piloted the Lancers to an amazing nine championships in a row, from the CESAFI's inception in 2001 up to 2009.
Already the longest tenured strategist of the Lancers, Cortes is only two silverwares away from equalling Cabahug's record.
