Incoming Mandaue admin flags lack of vehicles in CH offices

The incoming administration in Mandaue City said that at least 12 City Hall departments and offices need vehicles to deliver essential services, based on findings during recent transition meetings.

Mayor-elect Thadeo Jovito “Jonkie” Ouano’s transition team, led by Gonzalo “Sally” Malig-on, said some offices requested vehicles because their current units were no longer operational, while others had none at all.

Although Malig-on has yet to disclose the names of the offices involved, he said most of them play a vital role in city operations.

In a previous interview, Councilor Joel Seno also pointed out that at least five offices urgently need vehicles to enhance public service delivery. These include the City Accounting Office, City Public Market, City Agriculture Office, City Health Office, and City Veterinary Office.

Malig-on highlighted the issue in relation to a recently-approved ordinance that authorizes the Office of the Mayor to formalize deeds of donation for 15 vehicles granted to selected Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairpersons.

Although the ordinance was passed with majority support, three councilors voted against it, including Seno, who questioned the timing of the donation.
