FIND HAPPINESS IN THE NOW, HOWEVER YOU CAN

The Freeman

While I was browsing social media on my phone one morning, I came by this post by a friend that stuck me: “There was a man who was so preoccupied about what tomorrow may bring, not knowing that the next day would be his last.”

- Katherine R. Oyson, Ph.D.

There was more to the post, but its message is fairly easy to grasp: life is brief and fleeting, indeed.

Many of us spend our days worrying about what tomorrow may bring, but fail to realize that tomorrow is not necessarily ours to keep - that it is not promised to us.

We may be able to make plans, but it is God who has the final say.

In one of his homilies broadcasted on YouTube, Fr. Jerry Orbos, SVD recalled a story about one of the world's greatest leaders, Alexander the Great:

“Before he died, he voiced out three wishes: 'First, that my coffin be only carried by my doctors. This to show that no doctors could heal you even the best one. You have to take care of your health; Second, all my gold be scattered. Use your money for salvation, not for condemnation Third, let my hands be open and free to show that I came into this world with nothing, so I will leave with nothing.”
