CV records 7 mpox cases

During a press conference on Monday, outgoing Cebu City Mayor Raymond Alvin Garcia revealed that four suspected mpox cases are currently under hospital isolation.

He added that the city had earlier logged three confirmed cases in March 2025, all of whom have since recovered.

Garcia declined to disclose the barangays involved but emphasized that proactive response measures are already in place.

"There is no cause for alarm or panic... kay number one, it is not airborne, it is skin-to-skin contact. Ug muingon ka'g naay delikado, kato ra gyung immunocompromised," he said.

He said Cebu City hospitals are equipped to handle mpox cases, with treatment guidelines having been established since last year. There is currently no need to set up a separate isolation facility.

Garcia noted he is unsure whether patients are entitled to financial aid but assured the public that thorough monitoring and contact tracing are underway.

So far, no symptoms have been reported among those identified through tracing.
