Chiz and Martin: More of the same
August 08, 2025
|The Freeman
It is crazy to expect new things to happen with the same characters manning the Senate and the House.
The Senate is expected to have the same trend of budget insertions and the House will continue to use public funds as pork barrel. These leadership structures indicate that the show must go on.
With Chiz and Jinggoy leading the Upper Chamber, and with Martin and Sandro leading the Lower House, can we expect transparency and accountability? You must be dreaming. Chiz is the most astute power player. He knows the weaknesses of the Duterte group composed of Bong Go, Bato dela Rosa, Rodante Marcoleta, Robinhood Padilla, and Imee Marcos. He knows how to titillate the Cayetanos, the Villars, the Tulfos, and the Estradas/Ejercitos. In other words, Chiz is the ultimate master of human psychology.
With Jinggoy assisting Chiz, the Senate president has chosen a very effective executioner. Jinggoy is bold, daring, and will call a spade a spade. Chiz is the diplomat who will humor you with nice words but with a stiletto in his hand. He pontificates like the pope before the press and the others. But when hard decisions are to be made, he would not hesitate to order the extreme measures to be done. Chiz wears a smile and speaks in parables but he has a strong will and a sharp mind.
