Cebu Coliseum reclaims spot as historic landmark

“They are big, we are small, but we will make a difference.” This was the remarkable statement made by University of Cebu, Inc. Chairman Atty. Augusto “Gus” W. Go as he highlights that the upgraded historic Cebu Coliseum hopes to deliver an excellent experience in every event it will host with the help of its new features—further emphasizing that the change is not to compete with others.
The facility reopened its doors on Saturday, September 6, 2025, after undergoing major renovations. Atty. Go led its blessing and inauguration ceremony, together with school officials, representatives from DepEd, CESAFI officials, and partners.
The event featured a ceremonial basketball pitch led by PBA legend and former Cebu City vice mayor Donaldo “Dondon” Hontiveros, who also presented Atty. Go with a token of gratitude—a jersey with the number 1 embedded on it.
