Archival issues new ultimatum vs. DPWH

Cebu City Mayor Nestor Archival Sr. has issued a renewed ultimatum to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), demanding the immediate completion of its road repair project along Ban-Tal Road in Barangay Banilad—or risk having the city take over the work using its own engineering resources.

“Five days have passed since our first inspection,” Archival said during a site visit yesterday.

“The unfinished works continue to cause heavy traffic along Ban-Tal (Banilad-Talamban) road, greatly affecting our daily commuters. Our people deserve better. Delays are no longer acceptable!” he added.

Standing beside the still-unfinished stretch of road, Archival pointed to the area that contractors had earlier promised to complete.

“Makita ninyo, until now wala pa gyud nila nahimo... mao niy naka-cause sa grabe nga traffic,” he said.

He then called the project’s in-charge, Engr. Jun Dela Cruz, warning that unless the contractor commits to finishing the work immediately, the city’s own engineering team would begin asphalting the area by nightfall.
