Accountability

It baffles me that the invited content creators at the House quad-committee probe were moved to tears after being scrutinized for their social media posts.
The congressman who questioned the invited women was obviously furious, which led to some statements getting out of hand. What amazes me is their claim that their content meets journalistic standards and that their feelings are protected by freedom of speech. There is a misnomer in the caveat surrounding the word "freedom" in this very special provision enshrined in the Constitution.
I firmly believe in the old adage: "Your freedom ends where my nose begins." This holds especially true when publicized content concerns more than just oneself; it must be held accountable. Accountability, as a concept, is what differentiates vloggers and content creators from journalists. This is the ability to own up to one’s mistake and to be responsible for everything posted online. It can’t just be based on feelings alone.
