Donald Trump's sweeping cuts to science funding could trigger a brain drain and have ripple effects on research worldwide, Nobel Prize officials in Sweden have warned.

Since taking office in January, the US president has slashed billions of dollars in funding, curbed universities’ academic freedoms, and overseen mass layoffs of scientists across federal agencies. Nobel officials Hans Ellegren and Thomas Perlmann told AFP that such measures could erode America’s position as the world’s leading research nation.
