Coal India Ltd on Tuesday said it will increase coal prices by 8% from midnight for all sectors for major coal grades which is expected to generate an additional income of 27.03 bln rupees for the company in the current financial year.
The increase in prices will cover coal with gross calorific values in the range of 4,300-7,000 kcal/kg. Roughly this range includes the G2-G10 coal grades. Coal India majorly produces the G7-G8 coal variant which is priced lower as it is of inferior quality.
