The Blessing of Throats
February 01, 2026
|The Free Press Journal - Mumbai
The Blessing of Throats is observed on February 3, the feast day of St. Blaise, and is performed to seek his intercession for those suffering from throat ailments.
The ritual commonly involves the use of candles, which symbolise the incarnate Lord. In this symbolism, the wax represents the body, the wick the soul, and the flame the divinity.
