RPF cracks ₹1.82cr fake heist case in 72 hrs

The Railway Protection Force (RPF) of Central Railway has solved a high-profile fabricated robbery case within 72 hours, recovering gold ornaments worth Rs1.82 crore and arresting all accused. Initially reported as a major robbery on Train No. 12187 — Jabalpur-CSMT Garib Rath Express — on September 30, 2025, the case was exposed as a meticulously planned deception.

Sagar Parekh, a 40-year-old Nashik resident and partner in a Zaveri Bazar jewellery firm, lodged a complaint at Mumbai’s CSMT Government Railway Police (GRP) Station, alleging the theft of 52 gold bangles and 35 gold rings, weighing 1.5 kg and valued at Rs1.82 crore. The case was transferred to GRP Khandwa, as the incident fell under their jurisdiction, and re-registered on October 3, 2025. RPF Bhusaval was roped in for assistance.
