Ahead of the BMC elections, tenders for several major infrastructure projects are being floated before the election code of conduct comes into effect.
Key projects include the Gargai Dam, a cable-stayed bridge connecting the Y-Bridge in Byculla to the JJ Bridge, and the fourth phase of the Goregaon-Mulund Link Road, totalling an investment of around Rs10,000 crore.
Gargai Dam: The long-delayed Gargai Dam in Palghar has been fast-tracked by the Mahayuti administration. At an estimated cost of Rs3,040 crore, the project is expected to add 450 million litres of water per day to Mumbai's supply. This follows the Middle Vaitarna Dam completed in 2014.
