A simple guide to choosing the right pot for a healthy, flourishing jade plant
Crassula ovata is a common houseplant commonly known as the jade plant, or less frequently referred to as the friendship plant, money plant, or money tree. These subtropical houseplants have thick stems and a compact root system, and look stunning in different types of pots.
TERRACOTTA
The terracotta pots are natural, cool, and ensure ample air circulation, which allows excess moisture to evaporate from the soil. And these porous pots will help keep overwatering in check, which is the main issue jade plants face. Additionally, they have an earthy look that complements the rich look of jade plants. These pots are heavy, which is a bonus for stabilizing the bigger plants.
GLAZED CERAMIC
The beautiful glazed container will add aesthetic value to your home, and the jade plant will add a touch of elegance to your space. However, these pots cannot retain moisture for a prolonged period, as this reduces the porosity of the pot. They are perfect for people who live in extremely arid regions.
Please ensure that they have drainage holes, as their water retention properties can lead to overwatering if not adequately monitored.
PLASTIC
An affordable, durable, and lightweight pot is an easy pick for many gardeners. You also get options to choose from a variety of colors, just like ceramic pots. They can be easily moved to different places, which will help relocate your heavy jade plant.
FIBERGLASS
These pots are resistant to weather changes, lightweight, and durable. They are available in various modern designs that suit your interiors, and they lend an elegant aesthetic to your home. Fiberglass pots have proper drainage holes.
