Eco-friendly Visarjan: Legal Notice Issued to MPCB and BMC

Environment activist and Bombay High Court petitioner Rohit Joshi has issued a legal notice to the Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) and municipal commissioners of Mumbai, Thane, Mira Bhayandar, and Kalyan-Dombivli, alleging violation of court orders that mandated immersion of all idols below six feet only in artificial ponds.
The notice challenges an MPCB circular dated August 26, which permits immersion of smaller idols in natural water bodies if artificial ponds are unavailable.
