CPM woman leader's shocking remark over 'intensity' of rape
December 04, 2025
|The Free Press Journal - Mumbai
Lasitha Nair, district secretary of the women's wing of the AIDWA in Pathanamthitta, has labelled the sexual harassment case involving Rahul Mamkootathil as "extreme" while describing the allegations against ruling CPM MLA M. Mukesh as "low intensity".
She argued that there was no concrete evidence against Mukesh and that the case had not been formally recognised as sexual assault. She added that no followup or punitive action had been taken, and that the matter was now being handled by the law.
According to her, the party does not administer internal disciplinary measures in such situations.
The remarks have revived scrutiny over past precedents where similar terminology was used to class accusations against CPM members
