In a major policy breakthrough aimed at accelerating Mumbai's long-stalled redevelopment projects, the Mahayuti government has announced a complete waiver of registration fees for residents receiving new homes under the cluster development scheme.

As part of this new policy, registration fees will be waived for homes measuring between 400 and 600 sq ft constructed for eligible tenants and residents in the BMC area. The decision was formally approved by the Revenue Department on November 18, following directives from minister Chandrashekhar Bawankule. He stated that the move would directly benefit lakhs of families across the city. He emphasized that, even with the increased size of new homes - now up by nearly 200 sq ft - the registration cost remains entirely waived, significantly reducing the financial burden on middleclass and economically weaker residents.
