Vedanta demerger gets NCLT approval

Vedanta Limited has finally secured regulatory clearance for its long-awaited demerger, with the Mumbai bench of the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) approving the scheme on Tuesday, bringing an end to months of uncertainty.

The approval clears the last major regulatory hurdle for the metals-to-oil conglomerate, paving the way for the separation of its diverse businesses into independent, listed companies. All prior approvals—from shareholders, creditors and the Sebi—had already been obtained.

Following the ruling, Vedanta’s shares rallied sharply, touching an all-time high of about Rs 572.50 during the session, compared with the previous close of Rs 549.
