British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s decision to touch down in Mumbai, the commercial capital of India, and not New Delhi, the political capital, during his two-day visit to the country is indicative of the direction of the just-held Indo-UK talks.

The focus was on trade, education and de-fence cooperation in the dialogue between Starmer, who led a 126-strong trade delegation, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who hosted the British PM. Months after the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) was signed by Starmer and Modi in the UK, it was taken to a new level, bringing relief to New Delhi reeling under the onslaught of Trumps tariff war. The two leaders reiterated their commitment to global stability and a rules-based world order.
