Govandi waste unit relocation extended

The High Court directs the operator to pay ₹2 L to school for blind children for delay

The Bombay High Court (HC) has granted a 21-month extension to the operator of a common biomedical waste treatment facility in Govandi to relocate the unit outside city limits, while directing it to pay Rs2 lakh to a school for blind children for the delay caused in the shifting process.

However, the court noted that the delay was beyond the control of the facility operator - SMS Envoclean Pvt Ltd - and underlined that the cost was imposed "as a measure of accountability for the delay".
