Free bus scheme for hilly disabled

The Tamil Nadu government has directed that persons with benchmark disabilities be included under the “Vidiyal Payanam” zero-fare bus travel scheme in hilly and ghat regions, also allowing them to travel with escorts under defined limits.
The expansion takes effect in the fiscal year 2025-26 and aims to reach approximately 1,100 additional beneficiaries.
