First Sabarimala SIT report is ready

A first formal progress report by the Special Investigation Team probing the loss of temple gold at Sabarimala is expected to be submitted to the Kerala High Court on Tuesday, according to police sources.

The court’s division bench of Justices Raja Vijayaraghavan and K.V. Jayakumar will hear the case on that day and the SIT is poised to report its findings.The probe revolves around allegations that gold-plated copper plates affixed to the guardian-idol sculptures and door frames in the sanctum sanctorum of the Sabarimala temple underwent electroplating in 2019 but were found to have lost significant gold content upon return from a Chennai-based firm.
