Byregowda defends state's relief efforts

Revenue Minister Krishna Byregowda on Tuesday strongly rejected accusations from the opposition regarding the state government's handling of farmer issues, particularly in the light of the recent drought and monsoon crises.

Byregowda emphasized that the state government had acted decisively and responsibly to support farmers during these challenging times.

Byregowda pointed out that when drought —conditions emerged in 2023, the central government failed to offer timely assistance, forcing the Karnataka government to approach the Supreme Court for relief. “This was a historic step, and it resulted in the release of crucial relief funds for farmers,” he stated, praising the state’s proactive approach.
