Belagavi cyber fraud case handed over to CID

In a major breakthrough, Belagavi city cyber police have dismantled a large-scale international fraud racket that was duping American citizens from a rented office in Karnataka.

The accused had set up a fake call centre and lured unsuspecting victims into parting with money through elaborate scams. As many as 35 people have been arrested, and the case has now been handed over to the CID for deeper investigation.

Investigators revealed that the gang, led by a kingpin from Gujarat named Sagar, recruited 33 youths from outside Karnataka and housed them in Belagavi.
