AIADMK leader and former minister P. Thangamani's embarrassed the DMK government in the Assembly over its failure to land Google’s investment, asserting that the tech giant chose Andhra Pradesh despite Sundar Pichai’s Tamil roots has indeed embarrassed Stalin's government.-

- HD Bureau

Thangamani said, “Despite Google CEO Sundar Pichai being a Tamil, Google has gone to Andhra Pradesh and not Tamil Nadu,” casting the state government's economic strategy into doubt. He argued that the failure to attract such a marquee investment raises questions about Tamil Nadu’s competitiveness versus rival states.

Countering his charge, Industries Minister T. R. B. Rajaa pledged that Tamil Nadu is poised to benefit from a Rs 15,000 crore commitment by Foxconn, emphasising ongoing efforts to bolster jobs and industrial growth.

But it sounded less convincing than Thangamani's assertion as Foxconn clarified that the investment announcement did not constitute a new initiative.
