What was once a simple act of hospitality has evolved into an intricate blend of ritual, luxury gifting, and a booming business opportunity.
A RITUAL OF SWEET BEGINNINGS Indian weddings are a tapestry of rituals, and sweets are woven into every stage. From the "roka" to the "bidaai," mithai symbolizes auspicious beginnings, blessings, and the sweetness of new bonds. Traditionally, families prepare or source mithai as a sacred offering—distributed to relatives, friends, and even deities. Offering sweets is considered a way of sharing joy and spreading good fortune.
Each region has its own wedding sweets that carry cultural significance—Rasgulla in Bengal, Petha in Agra, Mysore Pak in the South, or Kaju Katli in the North. These are not just desserts; they are carriers of heritage.
