UPSC Returns Haryana Government's Proposal To Promote 27 Officers To IAS

Cites legal concerns over eight charge-sheeted officers from 2002 batch

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has returned its proposal to promote 27 state civil service officers (HCS) to the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

According to the letter written to the state government and accessed by The Daily Guardian, the UPSC objected to the promotion of eight officers from the 2002 batch, as they are facing a charge sheet in connection with alleged irregularities in their selection process.

These eight were part of a larger list of officers from the 2002, 2003, and 2004 batches sent by the state government in March for promotion.

In its reply the UPSC has asked the state government to furnish amended documents so that the promotion of other candidates could be proceeded with as per the select list for 2020 to 2024.

The UPSC, in a letter dated May 22, told the Haryana government that its interpretation of the law was incorrect.
