US President Donald Trump on Tuesday reignited controversy over territorial expansion after sharing posts on his Truth Social platform depicting Canada, Greenland and Venezuela as part of the United States.

One post featured an old photograph of Trump seated in the Oval Office with several European leaders, including French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen. Behind them, a US flag graphic appeared to show Canada, Greenland and Venezuela incorporated into the United States.
In a separate post, Trump was shown flanked by Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, hoisting a US flag in Greenland beside a milepost reading: “Greenland US Territory Est 2026”.
