U.S. President Donald Trump has given his administration a two-week window to decide whether to launch military strikes against Iran, intensifying already heightened tensions in the Middle East as European powers scramble to broker a last-minute diplomatic solution.
Speaking via a statement delivered by White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Thursday, Trump said he would base his final decision on the prospect of negotiations with Tehran. "Based on the fact that there's a substantial chance of negotiations that may or may not take place with Iran in the future, I will make my decision whether or not to go within the next two weeks," the statement read.
