US’ longstanding role as the primary benefactor of the global organization. Prior to signing the order,

Trump expressed his belief in the UN’s significant potential, while oxymoronically criticizing its current performance as failing to meet that potential.

Additionally, he announced the withdrawal of the US from the UN Human Rights Council and the cessation of funding to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), which is vital for providing humanitarian aid to millions affected by conflict in Gaza. Though these actions were anticipated, given Trump’s previous decisions to disengage from both entities during his initial presidential term. Also, the executive order mandated a review of the US’ participation in UNESCO, the agency responsible for safeguarding world heritage sites. This move reflects a broader strategy to reassess and potentially recalibrate the US’ commitments to international organizations, aligning them more closely with the administration 's views on equity in global governance. However, this has left the UN in great worry.
