'Desire seems to be the root cause of all problems,' one of the disciples stated with confidence during a discussion at Paglot Baba's ashram.
Baba replied rather nonchalantly, 'Getting your desires fulfilled can also be a problem. Likewise, giving to others also gives people sleepless nights. Though I agree with you, since getting and giving are mostly propelled by desire. Strangely, even not being able to give can create problems. I know someone who frets over returning the innumerable favours she has received from others.'
'I worry about it too,' responded one of the disciples. 'Ah! There you go,' Baba smiled at the disciple.
'How do we solve the problem?' The curious disciple wondered. 'By giving,' Baba replied.
'But in my case there's no way I can help my friend. She doesn't need my help. Perhaps she never will,' the disciple replied, sounding a bit dejected.
